Plan for Change: Intune moving to support macOS 15 and higher later this year
🚨 The Signal: Intune will soon only support macOS 15 (Sequoia) and newer for new device enrollments. Existing macOS 14.x devices will remain managed but cannot be re-enrolled if wiped. This impacts device lifecycle management and security patching.
The Impact
Admins and security teams are affected by the risk of unmanaged or non-compliant macOS devices if not upgraded.
- Admins: New macOS 14.x devices cannot enroll, increasing manual management.
- Security Teams: Older macOS devices may fall out of support, increasing vulnerability.
- Users: May experience enrollment issues if their macOS is outdated.
- Compliance Teams: Risk of non-compliance for devices not meeting OS patching standards.
The Action
- Go to Devices > All devices in Intune.
- Filter by 'macOS' and add columns to identify devices running macOS 14.x or below.
- Identify users with affected macOS devices.
- Plan for upgrading macOS 14.x devices to macOS 15 (Sequoia) or higher.
- Review https://aka.ms/Intune/macOS/ADE-DE-support for nuanced support statements on ADE/DE devices.
